The first known Anzac biscuit recipe appeared in The War Chest Cookery Book, which was published in Sydney in 1917, but this recipe was for a cake, not a biscuit?
It is said that biscuits with a similar recipe to the one we knew today appeared in magazines under different names, sometimes called “Rolled Oat Biscuits” or “Soldier’s Biscuits”. The current name only came about after the legendary ANZAC Gallipoli Campaign. skynews……

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup dessicated coconut
125 g butter ASHGROVE TRADITIONAL BUTTER
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons boiling water
1.Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
2.Grease a biscuit tray.
3.Mix oats, flour, sugar and coconut together.
4.In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the syrup and butter together. Mix the soda and the boiling water and add to the melted butter and syrup.
5.Add butter mixture to the dry ingredients. Drop the mixture by teaspoons on greased biscuit tray.
6.Bake for 12-15 minutes
