We are proud to announce the launch of a ground-breaking product: Ashgrove Eco-Milk, a world first and Australia's inaugural climate-friendly milk.

This innovative milk retains all the nutritional benefits and delicious taste of Ashgrove full cream milk while significantly reducing environmental impact.

Ashgrove Eco-Milk boasts up to 25 per cent less methane emissions in milk, marking a significant step towards sustainable dairy production.

The key to this remarkable achievement lies in a native Tasmanian seaweed with extraordinary properties.

This seaweed has the natural ability to potentially halve the amount of methane emitted by Ashgrove's contented herd when they burp, resulting in a more environmentally friendly milk production process.

Richard Bennett, Managing Director of Ashgrove, emphasised the company's commitment to environmental stewardship and community welfare.

"Ashgrove Eco-Milk represents our dedication to innovation and sustainability," said Mr Bennett.

"We are proud to lead the way with this Tasmanian solution to a global challenge."

In collaboration with SeaForest, Ashgrove feeds its cows a dietary supplement called SeaFeed, derived from native red seaweed.

This supplement reduces methane emissions by interacting with enzymes in the cows' digestive system, making the process more efficient and environmentally friendly. Ashgrove's initial goal is to reduce methane emissions from its herd’s milk production by 30 per cent, thereby significantly reducing its carbon footprint.

Sam Elsom, CEO of SeaForest, hailed the partnership as an exciting milestone in the journey towards low-emission agriculture.

"SeaFeed offers a solution to one of the most significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture," Mr Elsom said.

"This collaboration with Ashgrove demonstrates our commitment to meaningful climate impact and sustainable farming practices."

According to the 2022 Tasmanian Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report, agriculture accounts for 34% of the state's total emissions. SeaForest's innovative approach can potentially reduce the dairy industry's overall greenhouse gas footprint by an estimated 30%, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability.

In addition to its environmental benefits, Ashgrove Eco-Milk packaging is also eco-friendly, with the bottle, label, and clear lid made from 100% recyclable materials.

Ashgrove Eco-Milk is now available on the shelves of Woolworths and IGAs across Tasmania, offering consumers a new choice for environmentally conscious shopping. With plans to expand interstate and develop a range of low-emission, climate-friendly dairy products, Ashgrove is poised to revolutionize the dairy industry while championing environmental responsibility.
